All I can say is WOW! I had an amazing time this past Halloween weekend all around. The weekend started early with Keith Evan's B-Day edition of Soundbar with Ben Watt. Much props to my boy Keith for throwin' it dowwwwwwn. Sick set...glad I wasn't in Ben Watt's shoes following that set son ;-)
Saturday was an amazing night at the Patio Sessions Halloween Party as well. It was great to have the Denver crew as well as my brother in the house for a weekend of sick beats and some costumed debauchery. Damn I love Halloween! Congratulations to my boy Joey M and his beautiful new wife Fawn, I am glad we had the opportunity to be a part of your wedding. Good stuff all around!
Thanks to all my Denver DJ peeps for making the night an extra special event and I gotta give a big shout out to the crew at SATAY as well for putting on a great wedding reception and holding it down all night long...I know it was a long one, but we did it!Last but not least I would like to thank my boy Daniel Aquino for breaking out the lens and snapping some great photos from last weekend. SOUL KITCHEN LIGHTS A CHILLY VEGAS NIGHT ON FIREIf you know anything about house music then you will know the scene is built around the concept of community amongst many other things. Last night Vegas' house community came together as we celebrated the 36th birthday of Soul Kitchen resident DJ and creator of the longest running house music weekly in Las Vegas, Edgar Reyes. The night started off slow but the drinks were flowing and the music was perfect as the night eventually got jumpin' around 1:30-2am.Ending off his set with classics like Jaydee's "Plastic Dreams" and one of my all time favorites...Blaze's "Lovlee Day", Edgar Reyes got the energy up and set the stage perfectly for guest DJ Rudy V. hailing from the City Of Angels.Rudy V. kept the fires burning with a very solid set of vocal house peppered with some Latin house gems alongside classic vocals like Joey Negro's classic feel-good remix of Erro, "Change For Me".The party continued to rock the spot as local house diva Jessica Lynn killed it with a sultry rendition of "Happy Birthday" live on the mic for el birthday boy.Next up was guest DJ Will "Reel Soul" Rodriguez as he came out of the happy birthday intermission with all time favorite and NYC classic, Basement Jaxx's "Fly Life". Will continued to capture the audience with an onslaught of some proper house music as he played with some big hits like Martin Solveig's rock guitar laden "Everybody" and then brought us back to the head nodding grooves that Soul Kitchen has been known for over the years.If you can't tell, Red Room was on fire last night and let me just say this...all the "real" movers and shakers in Las Vegas had their feet firmly planted on the dancefloor. Nice one indeed!
