First things first. As the weather is getting a little nipply out at night lately we have decided to move our weekly house jammie indoors for the time being. Now we can all get drunk at the bar and still rock out to some bumpin' house music. Not a bad deal if I do say so myself.This week we have DJ Theory as our special guest who needs no introduction. Having had residencies all over Las Vegas as well as playing alongside a dope funk/soul band on the regular, Theory is definitely one of this cities most versatile DJs. Theory has the ability to play a wide range of sets from downtempo, to hip-hop, to deep, to funky to bangin' and everything in between but one thing is for certain...it will always have mad urban flava in your ear. One of his biggest influences and inspirations in the house spectrum of music he plays is Mark Farina so can expect to put a little funk in yo trunk when Theory is on the decks.Boomptie boomp! As the Vegas weather cools down, Patio Sessions heats things back up as we bring you a stacked lineup this week. We are very excited to have Chicago's DJ Jes (Fresca Recordings) in the house this week as he is responsible for one of my favorite records called "Personal Surroundings" that came out years ago on Siesta. DJ Jes takes the loopy, jackin', disco sounds of Chicago and infuses them with rolling tribal rhythms and grooved out tracky goodness. This seasoned DJ/producer has put out a ton of records over the years and has definitely carved out his own expression of what Chicago house is. Respect and recognize, DJ Jes keeps it real as it gets on all fronts.Also servin' up the beats this Saturday is our very own Lenny Alfonso and DJ Wil rounded out by resident DJ Carlos Sanchez to kick it up a few more degrees in the caliente department. All I can say is WOW! I had an amazing time this past Halloween weekend all around. The weekend started early with Keith Evan's B-Day edition of Soundbar with Ben Watt. Much props to my boy Keith for throwin' it dowwwwwwn. Sick set...glad I wasn't in Ben Watt's shoes following that set son ;-)
Saturday was an amazing night at the Patio Sessions Halloween Party as well. It was great to have the Denver crew as well as my brother in the house for a weekend of sick beats and some costumed debauchery. Damn I love Halloween! Congratulations to my boy Joey M and his beautiful new wife Fawn, I am glad we had the opportunity to be a part of your wedding. Good stuff all around!
Thanks to all my Denver DJ peeps for making the night an extra special event and I gotta give a big shout out to the crew at SATAY as well for putting on a great wedding reception and holding it down all night long...I know it was a long one, but we did it!Last but not least I would like to thank my boy Daniel Aquino for breaking out the lens and snapping some great photos from last weekend. We would like to thank all of the guest DJ's that joined us for a great month of weather and music, we look forward to bringing more of Las Vegas' dance music community together in the months to come. This weekend is Residents Night where Carlos and myself take the reigns for the evening for an all night tag team set. If you really love gettin' down and dirty with the underground stuff, residents night is where we get to push the envelope a little bit, test out lots of new material and find the boundaries of what we can play on the SATAY Patio. From the deep to the vocal to the bumpin' and even towards some more techie flavors, we always enjoy taking things on a little journey for residents night. Be sure and join us after the big UFC fight this Saturday (Go Lyoto Machida!) as we take things on a musical ride. We hope you are all getting your bad ass costumes together for our Grindhouse Music Halloween party next Saturday. All I can tell you about mine is that it will probably make me want to do very villainous things all night long ;-) We have been looking forward to this little throwdown for some time as my very good friends Joey and Fawn from Denver will be getting married here next weekend with a giant crew of Mile High beat heads in tow. We will be having a 6 DJ, B-Movie smackdown with 3 different tag teams going head to head for the evening. This weeks Patio Sessions welcomes longtime Vegas DJ Royce Ramirez. Vegas' most perverted DJ (me included) will be playing a night jam packed with Chicago ghetto tech and booty house all night long a la DJ Funk...Shake doze tits and bounce dat ass girl, shake doze tits and bounce dat ass girl, shake doze tits and bounce dat ass girl, shake doze tits and bounce dat ass girl. OK just kidding. On a serious note, Royce has long been a part of Vegas' dance community holding down regular gigs and residencies at legendary spots like Utopia and Drai's back when electronic dance music ruled the desert like a gila monster biting your big toe. Royce's early ventures in dance music saw him on stage with electronic bands as the keyboardist and the drummer from the 80's onward. He now flexes the same skills and love of dance music in the studio as he has been hard at work producing house music hoping to not only put the 702 on the map but to chase that all elusive perfect beat. Lately he has been releasing music with Jason Rios and Andy Taylor under their new digital label Big Wheel Music based here in the LV. Oh yes! I am back in the 702 after an amazing few days in Denver last weekend but glad to be back to this perfect weather and another weekend filled with beats.
Thanks to all that came out last weekend for Frank Richards as he dusted of the ole wax (That would be vinyl records for all you digital babies!) for his night of dance classics. Heard it was a doozy...as much of a doozy it can be without the #1 trouble maker in the house that is ;-)
This weeks special guest is Baltimore transplant Mike Hopper. Mike has a rich history in house music within the Baltimore scene and has had numerous residencies there throughout the years. Baltimore is home to house legends like the Basement Boys and Mike Hopper is not a DJ to be sleepin' on by a longshot. His meticulous programming ,music knowledge and DJ skills will take you from the deep to the jackin' to the techie and back again smooth like buttah baby...truly a musical journey every time he steps to the decks. Just how we like it, we hope you do too!

Yep, it's October and the air has magically gotten easier to breathe and I am considering the fine array of fashion choices I will have to wear out and about from here on out. Nights on the patio have been shaping up nicely along with the weather and it feels great to be holding down the only dedicated house night geared towards gettin' your groove on (as opposed to ultra loungin') during the weekend in Vegas. For all you workin' peeps, I feel your pain. The Vegas weekends don't offer much in the way of real deal dance music, especially with the loss of our beloved Empire Ballroom. Speaking of...this week's special guest came up in the Vegas dance scene from that very building by way of the legendary Utopia. One of the few loco...erm...local Las Vegans in the DJ scene here, Mr. Frank Richards joins us this week for a very special night of dance classics. Yep, it's time to wax nostalgic for a night as we dust off the archives and take you back into time...way back...back in the day! As many of our out of state peeps are starting to put on their jackets, boots and sweaters, we have the luxury of rolling into the Vegas season that is pretty much...well, perfect. The patio has been absolutely beautiful of late and will continue to get even nicer for these next couple of months ahead, rest assured.
If you haven't noticed yet, I am absolutely ecstatic to be joining Carlos Sanchez and the crew over at SATAY as their newest resident DJ. I look forward to bringing that Casa Del Soul flava to Las Vegas along with pushing some great music every week which leads me to this week's lineup. Originally slated as the special guest, this week is now officially residents night! Woo hoo! Carlos and I will be tag teaming it all night long which is becoming a very tight team if I do say so myself. You be the judge. I challenge you to a dance off!

First off, I would like to thank all who came out and made last weekend such a great one. The weekend after the Labor Day Weekend blow-out as well...bunch of professional party peeps in this town for sure.My boy Adam Collins rocked the house Thursday at Soul Kitchen for an amazing night with Edgar Reyes and the crew. Dare I say Soul Kitchen might just be the party that puts Vegas haunt, The Artisan, back on the map as a cool place to hang out. The bacon is in the frying pan so to speak so we'll see if we can't light a fire under it...because everything is better with bacon right?Also, a big thanks to the small but dedicated group of peeps that made it to Downtown Cocktail Room on Friday for Crazy Larry's deep and heady 2+ hour throwdown. First off, I would like to give a huge thank you to all of you that came out for last Saturday's Patio Sessions at SATAY. Carlos and I had an amazing time over there last weekend and it actually reminded me a little bit of some of those crazy mornings on the patio of Empire Ballroom...of course, without having to have sunglasses on when I left! Hands down one of the best gigs I have had the pleasure of playing here in Las Vegas.
This week I will be joining partner in crime Carlos Sanchez at our favorite downtown haunt, Downtown Cocktail Room. Come beat the heat in one of the coolest spots in Vegas along with some cool cocktails and of course...cool house music!
